SECOND CHANCE FOR LOVE AT THE SPCA CENTER

FEBRUARY 12 AND 13, 2011

Every year the SPCA centre is in full party mode for our annual Second Chance of Love, sponsored by Hills Pet Nutrition.  This annual event is just one way we can work to re-home the animals that are brought to the centre.

Volunteer Cara Amy works in the kitten room. Didn't get the memo: young Daniel here thought we were finding homes for buckets. Luckily his Mum and Dad were on the ball and took two felines home instead.

We had prizes, a sausage sizzle, adoption packs, and a colouring in competition for the children. People could also have their dog or pup microchipped at minimal charge.

Renae is SPCA Chief Executive Bob Kerridge's great-niece, seen here with a stunned mullet expressioned cat. Inspectors Val Ball (foreground) and Lesley Gibson spot a Goldie forgery amongst the colouring competition entries

Thanks to everyone who came along. Special thanks to Kevin Ball who supplied the source imagery for the montage below. Contact him on 377 1912 if you like to get a print.

Val Ball presents Melanie Teahan with her going-away present. It was volunteer Melanie Teahan's last day at the SPCA before going to university.

Crafty Committee member Pat Dutton tries to adopt out a cardboard donkey to a short-sighted visitor. At 87, Joan Thompson was the oldest helper on the day.

Volunteer Donna grabs time for a cuppa. We'll be back in 2012!

THANKS TO OUR SECOND CHANCE FOR LOVE SPONSORS!

If we were dogs, Hills would be our favourite food.
